Here at  Phoenix Ink we have built a business around the recycling of ink cartridges with great benefits to both our customers and the environment.

There are accepted statistics that are alarming as to the environmental costs associated with the ink cartridge story, and it starts well before the cartridge is first installed into our printer. For example, most of us would be unaware that the "environmental costs of manufacture" include almost 3 ounces of oil for each ink cartridge, plus energy consumption in manufacture, packaging and distribution.

Much more alarming are the numerous statistics on the environmental costs of disposal. By way of example, there are enough cartridges disposed annually in the US alone that if laid end to end they would encircle the world 3 times! Numerically this equates to over 350,000,000 cartridges. What is more: this happens every year! Another statistic discloses that this represents almost 60,000 tons of landfill plastic, which takes 1000 years to breakdown into its constituent elements.

The environmental benefits of returning refilled cartridges to the ink printing communities are clear and compelling. Hence the passion and commitment we have, in our own modest way, to help address this ecological imbalance.
